Britain - 2 Pounder Anti-Tank Gun

Developed by the Ordnance dept and Vickers but manufactured by BSA for use in World War II.

The 2 Pounder was a heavy gun and was emplaced, thus it could not be moved swiftly.

It had a semi-automatic breech mechanism and telescopic sights.

The gunner was provided with a seat and a full fixed shield protected the crew.

A 1.57inch (40mm) armor piercing round was fired, capable of penetrating 1.65inches (42mm) of armor at 1000yards (914m).

For WWII a revised armor piercing round was issued for the 2 pounder, and a bolt on muzzle adaptor which tapered the bore, thus increasing muzzle velocity significantly and therefore range and penetration.
