One often hears of the special relationship between American and Britain, which today does not always seem so significant but was a very big deal during World War Two. America and Britain shared a lot of tank designs and tank designers, swapping ideas and tank battle tactics between each other. Both countries made their own modifications to the same basic tank models. In fact, even though Britain invented the tank she used American tractor parts to develop the original prototypes in World War One. Furthermore, there were a number of tanks in World War Two that were joint ventures between the two countries. This early sharing of technology was a foreshadowing of modern tank design; nowadays a tank can me made with components that are designed and manufactured in many different countries.
